Mobile Apps Development: Never Underestimate Quality Assurance

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Imagine that you have just made up a really amazing mobile app. You have only your idea, and there are a lot of things you have to do before reaching the phase of post-development review. But do you know what you need at every stage of your app development? Exactly, mobile app testing.

Its role is extremely important since QA is a guarantee that you and your team do everything in the right way. And since developing apps is not the easiest task in the world, let us lead you through every stage of this process.

Initial preparations

Answer the following questions:

  • What is your target audience?
  • Which devices will you focus on? Which models are popular among your target audience?
  • Which operating systems will your app support?

And don’t forget to prepare test documentation and the essential test environment!

Functional requirements

The first thing to pay attention to is if your app will be installable or browser-based. The second one is if the application will somehow interact with the Internet, social networks, other applications, etc.

Test documentation

You have already prepared test documentation, but now it’s time to develop it. Don’t make things too complicated – while developing the documentation, divide the functionality of your app into blocks. Such a wise strategy will allow you to spend less time on verifying functions of the app and test different blocks with higher accuracy.

Test environment

Now your QA testers must imagine themselves as typical users of your app. All the features must be checked: input methods, energy consumption, interface, and so on. We are not going to list all the things you have to test, otherwise, we will need several extra pages. Just remember that your QA department must make sure that the users will be happy with this app.

Double tap

Complete testing is your best friend during this stage. We know that you have already checked everything, but it’s better to do this again. Additional tests will help you to stabilize your application and, probably, find some bugs which were missed during the previous phases.

Acceptance testing

Remember, you have identified the acceptance criteria? Great, now find out if your app actually matches them.

Oh, and one more important thing – don’t neglect your users’ feedback! Keeping in touch with your clients will allow you to upgrade your app and fix bugs if they will occur
